A Little About Why I'm Helping You
As I've said before, I've been finger
picking guitar since the early 1970's and I'm passing some things I've learned
on to you. When I first started to take finger picking guitar seriously
it was because I was given TWO measures of crude Tablature on a napkin (From a
fellow gymnastics team mate, Doug Taylor, no relation to James.) back at Indiana State University in 1971. The song was Kathy's Song by Paul Simon. I
finally did learn to play that song almost identically to Paul Simon. It
was a lot of hard work, and it took a long, long time. I did it simply by
listing many many times to Paul Simon doing it and from studying that piece of
crude Tablature and a lot of trial and error. It wasn't easy, but I was
determined to learn to finger pick that song. I'm happy I persevered
because I have been able to play that song for many people and for many
years. I honestly want it to be easier for you to learn because I know
how hard it was for me. I want to hear more new upcoming musicians
incorporate finger picking guitar in their music, because I love finger
picking. If you use these methods I've outlined on this web site,
especially keeping the "RULES FOR LEARNING" in mind, you will make
the fastest possible progress with the best possible results.
I promise!
Please remember that all
I ask is for you to SHOW your appreciation by purchasing my CD's. Thank
you for your helping me.
Soon you too will be a
finger picking pro. The only thing that stands
in the way now is time and a lot of hard work on your
part. The rest is
available free of charge on this website. I hope that
what you've
read here will help motivate you to give it your
best.
